The tree pose improves control and balance. Stand erect with the feet together. Press your feet into the floor and imagine a string running through the spine and pulling the body upward. Make sure your body weight is evenly distributed. Lift the right leg and bend the knee. Place your right foot on the inside of your left thigh. Once you are balanced, raise the hands above the head and bring the palms together. Hold for 30 seconds and repeat on the other side.

Butterfly Pose

The butterfly pose starts with you sitting on the floor. Bring your feet together until the soles are touching. Slide your feet away from you and fold forward so your head is hanging down toward the heels of the feet. Your hands may rest lightly on the floor in front of your feet or on your feet themselves.

Simple Triangle Pose

The simple triangle pose begins with you standing with your feet apart. The distance between the feet should be twice your shoulder width. Rotate your hips until you are facing to one side. Position your feet so the back foot is diagonally between the front and side. The front foot should be pointed forward. Move the upper body so you are facing forward again and bring your arms out to your side. The palms should be facing forward and the arms straight. Bend at your waist until one arm is touching the ground and the other is pointed toward the sky. Turn your head to look at the palm which is up in the air. Spread your fingers as you do so and reach upward. Next, bend your front knee slightly and push down through the feet while pulling your torso up. Repeat on the other side.
